MISSISSIPPI RESIDENCE # 3

 

This new residence overlooks the Gulf of Mexico and is situated on Scenic Dr. in Pass Christian, Mississippi.  The main house is of painted brick and is roofed with recycled terra-cotta tiles.  Its one and a half story mass and wide front gallery are features meant to match the vernacular architecture.  The principal room on the first floor is a 40 foot long family room with a glazed wall facing the garden and pool structure to the north.

The pool structure employs a series of sliding panels which allow the roof and walls to be pulled back to expose the pool in good weather. 

Linked to the house by a covered walk, the pool structure is modern in design, but it is made compatible with the house by the use of similar forms and materials, and a consistent level of detail.
