SEGRAVE RESIDENCE

 

New residence in a Mississippi Gulf Coast high wind velocity zone (V-Zone), built after original slab-on-grade house was destroyed in Hurricane Katrina. Base Flood Elevation was 12-feet above sea level. Heavy gage commercial standing seam metal roofing was used with a broken hip facing the Gulf. The rear roof hip was cut out for AC condensing units and electrical service, which had to be above the base flood elevation. Reverse board and batten vertical siding was used to achieve a rain-screen exterior wall construction. The open plan front of the house has exposed trusses with a bridge to a loft looking through gable windows to the Gulf of Mexico.
